What is the disadvantage of plan G?
The main disadvantage of Plan G is that you pay the annual Part B deductible yourself before coverage kicks in. In 2026, that deductible is $283. Plan F used to cover it, but Plan F is no longer available to people who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. Some people also see Plan G premiums as a downside since they run higher than lower-tier plans like Plan N or high-deductible Plan G. You pay that premium every month whether you use care or not. For most clients, though, Plan G still offers strong value after that one deductible. Want help comparing Plan G against other options for your situation?
