Is it better to get a Medicare Advantage plan or a supplemental plan?

It depends on how you want to balance cost and flexibility. Medicare Advantage plans often carry low or $0 premiums, but they use networks, so you may need to see doctors and hospitals in the plan. A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan pairs with Original Medicare, which lets you see any provider that accepts Medicare anywhere in the U.S. Supplements usually cost more each month, but they cover most of your out-of-pocket gaps like the 2026 Part A deductible of $1,736. Remember, you still pay the Part B premium of $202.90 either way. Advantage plans also bundle drug coverage, while supplements do not. Your health needs and travel habits matter here.
