What happens if you don't want Medicare?
You can turn down Medicare, but the rules depend on which part. Most people get Part A (Hospital Insurance) premium-free, and you generally can't drop it unless you pay a premium for it. You can drop Part B (Medical Insurance) anytime, but think twice. Dropping coverage carries real risks. You may have to pay all the costs for services Medicare covers, like hospital stays and doctor visits. If you change your mind later, you might wait until the General Enrollment Period to sign up again, and you could owe a late penalty. If you're still working past 65 with job-based insurance, you may qualify to delay Part B without a penalty. Not sure what fits your situation? Call us at 855-559-1700.
