Lumos on the ad, Plateau on the application?
Same company. Lumos Insurance is the brand The Plateau Group took in March 2026. Your policy is issued by Plateau Insurance Company, NAIC 97152, based in Crossville, Tennessee.
Lumos files Plan G at $150.50 to $276.90 a month at 65 across the 17 states below. Its best showing is Georgia, 5 of 20 carriers. Its median rank is 11, and it runs $33.12 to $76.32 above each state's cheapest Plan G.
The product is new: CSG dates the Medigap block from 2026. Its rates took effect between August 2026 and September 2026, so there is no rate history to judge yet. The company behind it is older: The Plateau Group has written credit-related insurance since 1981.
Carriers pay the broker; the price you pay is the same either way.

Plan G and Plan N benefits are set by federal law, so a Lumos Plan G pays the same bills as anyone else's. The difference between carriers is the premium and how it changes.
Two Names, One Insurer
The Plateau Group announced the Lumos name on March 18, 2026. It kept its licensed companies, so the Medigap policy is still issued by Plateau Insurance Company. Look for Plateau on your application and policy. Expect Lumos on mail, ads and agent quotes.
Before Medigap, Plateau sold credit life, credit health and property coverage through banks, credit unions and auto dealers. The company gives its AM Best rating as A- (Excellent). That rating speaks to its ability to pay claims. It says nothing about future premiums.
Plan N Is Its Better Position
In every state on this page, Lumos ranks higher for Plan N than for Plan G. The best is Georgia: $118.83, 4 of 21. Plan N trades a lower premium for copays of up to $20 at some office visits and $50 at the ER, and it leaves Part B excess charges to you. Its only top-five Plan G is Georgia.
No Rate History Yet
CSG holds no filed rate change for Lumos in any of these states. A new Medigap block has no claims history behind its price. The first increases show how close the opening rate was. Our Physicians Select review shows how the early filings went for another recently launched block.
Rating method matters too. In Michigan, North Carolina, Kansas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Ohio, Alabama, Colorado, Texas, Wyoming, New Jersey, West Virginia and Tennessee, the premium rises with each birthday. In Georgia, Arizona and Florida, it is set by your age when you buy. In Arkansas, everyone pays the same rate regardless of age.
