How to Apply for a Bankers Fidelity Medicare Supplement Plan
By Anthony Orner, Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · Updated August 2026
Here's the direct answer: Bankers Fidelity does not offer an online application — not on bankersfidelity.com, and not on medicare.gov. Every Medicare Supplement application for the Bankers Fidelity family (including Atlantic Capital Life Assurance) is submitted through a licensed broker. The fastest way to apply is the online broker application at healthplans.now — about 15 minutes — or by phone at 855-559-1700.
Start My Bankers Fidelity Application →If you've been clicking around bankersfidelity.com looking for an "apply" button, or you found the company on medicare.gov's Medigap finder and hit a dead end — you're not missing anything. That apply path doesn't exist. This page walks through how the application actually works, step by step, from the broker side where it's submitted.
Why You Can't Apply on bankersfidelity.com — or on Medicare.gov
The carrier's website is quote-request only. The Medicare Supplement page on bankersfidelity.com collects your name, ZIP, and phone number and states that an independent agent may call you. There is no buy button, no enrollment portal, and no consumer e-application — the company's electronic application system exists only on its agent-facing producer platform, where a licensed agent initiates the application and sends you an electronic signature request.
Medicare.gov can't enroll you in any Medigap plan. Its Medigap finder shows which companies sell each plan letter in your area, with a phone number — and that's where it stops. Medicare's own guidance is to contact the insurance company directly to buy a policy. So if you found Bankers Fidelity (or Atlantic Capital Life Assurance) listed on medicare.gov and wondered where the "enroll" step is: there isn't one, for any Medigap carrier.
That leaves one real path: a licensed broker submits the application for you. That's not a workaround — it's how the carrier designed its distribution, and it costs you nothing extra: Medigap premiums are identical whether you apply through a broker or directly with a carrier agent, because rates are set by state filing, not by who submits the paperwork.
How to Apply for Bankers Fidelity Plan G or Plan N: 5 Steps
- 1
Check the rate and rate history first
Before applying with any carrier, confirm it's actually competitive in your state. Our Bankers Fidelity review shows the family's current filed Plan G and Plan N premiums, its price rank against every competing carrier, and its full rate-increase history in each state we cover — sourced from CSG Actuarial, not marketing material.
- 2
Gather three things
Your Medicare card (or your Part A/B effective dates if your card hasn't arrived), your address and date of birth, and a payment method for premium auto-pay (bank draft gets the lowest rate with most issuers). If you're applying outside a guaranteed-issue window, expect a short set of health-history questions too.
- 3
Complete the broker application at healthplans.now
This is the step that replaces the online application the carrier doesn't offer. It takes most people under 15 minutes, and it automatically routes your application to the correct issuing company for your state — Bankers Fidelity Life, Bankers Fidelity Assurance, or Atlantic Capital Life. Prefer a human? Call 855-559-1700 and we'll complete the same application by phone.
- 4
Pick your effective date
New to Medicare? Set the policy to start the same day as Part B — you can apply up to six months early and lock the current rate before any increase. Switching from another Medigap plan? Set the new policy's effective date first, then cancel the old one — never the other way around, so you're never uncovered.
- 5
Sign electronically and use your 30-day free look
The application is signed electronically — no paper, no fax. Once the policy is issued, federal law gives you a 30-day free look period to read the actual policy and cancel for a full refund if anything isn't what you expected. Applying starts the process; it doesn't lock you in.
Bankers Fidelity, Atlantic Capital, or "Capital Assurance"? Which Company Your Application Goes To
One reason applying feels confusing: the Bankers Fidelity family is three legally separate sister insurers under common ownership, and your policy is issued by whichever one is licensed in your state — even though the quote you saw probably just said "Bankers Fidelity."
- Bankers Fidelity Life Insurance Company — the flagship, founded in 1955.
- Bankers Fidelity Assurance Company (NAIC 71919) — the quoting issuer in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in our footprint.
- Atlantic Capital Life Assurance Company (NAIC 17393) — the newest issuer (writing Medigap since 2023) and frequently the family's price leader; the quoting issuer in Ohio, North Carolina, and Texas in our footprint. This is the name people often remember as "Atlantic Capital" or "Capital Assurance" — we've written a full Atlantic Capital Life Assurance review if that's the name on your quote.
The application process is identical for all three, and the healthplans.now application routes to the correct issuer automatically. All three share an AM Best A- (Excellent) financial strength rating.
When to Apply: Timing Matters More Than Anything Else on This Page
During your six-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period — starting the month you're 65 or older and enrolled in Part B — or during another guaranteed-issue window (leaving employer coverage, your first 12 months on Medicare Advantage, and similar triggers), the carrier must accept you and cannot charge more for health history. Outside those windows, the application adds health questions and approval goes through medical underwriting.
The move most people miss: you can apply up to six months before your Part B start date. Applying early locks the current filed rate — so if the carrier has an increase scheduled between now and your start date, you keep the lower price. There's no downside: the policy (and your premium) doesn't begin until your chosen effective date, and the 30-day free look still applies after issue.
Already covered by another Medigap carrier and thinking of switching for the price? That works too — see our guide to switching Medicare Supplement carriers for how underwriting and timing work in a switch.
Before You Apply: Make Sure Bankers Fidelity Is Actually the Right Price in Your State
Because Medigap benefits are federally standardized, a Bankers Fidelity Plan G pays claims identically to any other carrier's Plan G — so the only reasons to pick it are price and rate history. As of our July 2026 CSG data, the family files the cheapest Plan G in North Carolina and Texas and ranks top-3 in Ohio and #1–2 in New Jersey, but sits mid-pack in Pennsylvania — where identical coverage is available for meaningfully less.
The full numbers — current premiums, price rank against every competing carrier, filed rate-increase history, and loss ratios — are in our Bankers Fidelity Medicare Supplement review. Two minutes there can save you from applying for the wrong carrier in your state.
