Medicare Advantage Plans for Veterans in New Jersey, 2027

For veterans in New Jersey, there are 56 individual Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, from 10 companies: Aetna Medicare, AmeriHealth, Clover Health, Devoted Health, HealthSpring, Humana, Jefferson Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare, Wellcare and Wellpoint. 15 of them lower the Part B premium, by up to $150 a month, and at least one is sold in every one of the state's 21 counties. Those come from Aetna Medicare, Clover Health, Devoted Health, Humana and UnitedHealthcare.
Those are the plans you can choose from October 15 to December 7, 2026, for coverage starting January 1. North Jersey veterans mostly use the East Orange and Lyons VA medical centers. South Jersey is served by the Philadelphia VA, with clinics in Camden and Burlington and Gloucester counties, and the Wilmington VA, with clinics in Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties. Here is what a plan can add to that care, and what it cannot.
The Part B Reduction in New Jersey
The standard Part B premium is $202.90 a month in 2026; CMS sets the 2027 amount each fall. In New Jersey the largest reduction is the same in every county: $150 a month. Among the plans that offer one, the middle reduction is $106.
Social Security deducts less from your check while you are in the plan. No check arrives, and it can take a few months to show up. A plan with a reduction can also charge its own premium, so compare the two together.
Plans Without Drug Coverage
8 New Jersey plans have no drug coverage, from Aetna Medicare, Clover Health, Humana and UnitedHealthcare. Every one of them lowers the Part B premium. For someone who fills every prescription at the VA, that pairing is the point: no drug coverage you would not use, and part of Part B back.
The VA fills only what a VA clinician prescribes, plus up to 14 days of an urgent-care prescription at an in-network pharmacy in the same state. If a civilian specialist writes you something you take every month, it has to be rewritten at the VA, or you pay for it yourself. Veterans who see civilian specialists often do better in a plan that includes drug coverage. More on VA prescriptions and Part D.
Dental in New Jersey Plans
38 of the 56 plans give every member comprehensive dental, meaning fillings, crowns and more. 33 file one yearly dental maximum (plans from Aetna Medicare, AmeriHealth, Clover Health, Devoted Health, HealthSpring, Humana and UnitedHealthcare); the middle one is $1,250.
None of the 33 reaches $3,000 a year (plans that file their limit another way are not counted; check their Summaries of Benefits). That matters if you expect major work: Delta Dental's VADIP Prime plan has a $3,000 maximum, starting at $39.79 a month at 2026 prices, with a 9-month wait for crowns and dentures. A plan's dental comes with no separate dental premium. VADIP and Medicare Advantage dental compared.
Before You Switch in New Jersey
- You have a Medigap policy. New Jersey gives no right to buy it back later without health questions, outside the federal trial and guaranteed-issue situations. A Part B reduction rarely makes up for that.
- You have TRICARE For Life. It keeps paying after the plan, but you file those claims with TRICARE yourself.
- Your doctors near home. Outside emergencies, the plan pays by its network. Check that the doctors and hospital you use are in it.

Counts cover individual HMO, HMO-POS, PPO, PFFS and Regional PPO plans sold in New Jersey for 2027, from the CMS Plan Benefit Package and Medicare Advantage Landscape files dated 2026-10-03. Special-needs, cost, employer and Medical Savings Account plans are left out. Company counts follow the names CMS lists. A dental maximum is counted only when the plan files one yearly amount for comprehensive dental that is not pooled with other benefits.
