Plan G in Wayne County at 65, 70, 75 and 80
Same Plan G, same claims paid. Only the carrier and the birthday change. Every row is Wayne County (ZIP 48111), female, non-tobacco, no household discount. The median is the middle carrier of the 28 filed in that row, not an average. The step columns show the rise from the age above.

Source: CSG Actuarial rate filings, pulled September 10, 2026. Plan G does not cover the $283 Part B deductible; that comes out of pocket once a year before the plan starts paying.
Members Health holds the cheapest row at 65, $113.48, and the low row at 80 is Members Health at $182.51. The middle of the market moves faster than the bottom. The Wayne County median goes from $193.91 to $303.15, a $109.25 climb, while the cheapest row climbs $69.03. The gap between the cheapest and dearest 65 rows is $259.63 a month. Over 20 years that gap alone is about $62,311, before a single filing.
Plan N at the Same Four Ages
Plan N is the cheaper letter. In Wayne County the low row at 65 is $89.47 from Members Health, $24.01 under the cheapest Plan G. The trade is small and specific: copays up to $20 for some office visits. Up to $50 for an emergency-room visit that does not lead to admission. No coverage for Part B excess charges; Plan G covers those. Neither plan pays the $283 Part B deductible.

Same Wayne County profile as the Plan G table. CSG Actuarial rate filings, pulled September 10, 2026.
The cheapest Plan N row climbs $56.03 from 65 to 80, $89.47 to $145.50. The top of the Plan N market is GPM Health and Life at 65 ($282.40) and GPM Health and Life at 80 ($431.09). At 65 the Plan N median is $146.68 against $193.91 for Plan G. The copays have to add up to that difference before Plan G pays for itself.

28 carriers, 28 slopes. Each row is one carrier's Wayne County Plan G rate at 65 and at 80, with the climb in dollars and percent. It is what a new buyer pays at each age today, not a forecast for any one policy. Filings land on top of these steps.

Humana Insurance Company files two Michigan entities (NAIC 60219 and 60984); each one is listed.
Washington National has the steepest slope, $218.78 at 65 to $452.75 at 80, up 107%. WPS Health Solutions is next at 75%. At the flat end of the attained-age rows, Medico Life and Health goes from $176.05 to $224.11, up 27%, and Physicians Life rises 36%. A low 65 row with a steep slope and a higher 65 row with a flat one can cross before 75. I price both on the call.
Attained Age, Issue Age, Community Rated: the Michigan Mix
26 of 28 Michigan carriers file attained-age rates: the premium rises with each birthday, and again whenever the carrier files an increase on the block. That is the slope in the table above.
The issue-age carrier is Everence Association (1 of 28). Its price is set by the buyer's age at purchase and moves only with block filings. Its Wayne County row is $229.98 at 65 and $283.58 at 80, but that 80 row is what an 80-year-old pays to buy today, not what a 65-year-old buyer pays at 80. At 65 it costs $116.50 a month more than the cheapest attained-age row, and whether that gap closes by 80 depends on filings nobody can see yet.
The community-rated carrier is AARP / UnitedHealthcare (1 of 28). On paper that is one price at every age, moved only by filings. Its Wayne County rows still step from $175.51 at 65 to $280.27 at 80, so I do not quote it as flat without reading the filing first. The number is the price, not the label.
What the County Line Is Worth in Michigan
Michigan has 83 counties and 44 rating areas, and a carrier may file a different number in each one. Here it barely does. Across all 83 counties the cheapest county low at 65 is Arenac County at $113.48 and the priciest county low is Oscoda County at $126.08, a $12.60 spread between county floors.

Each county is quoted through one ZIP, the one with the largest land overlap. Female, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount.
Wayne's table is not another county's, and neither one is a quote for a different ZIP.
Call with a ZIP and birth date and we read back every filed Michigan carrier at that age, cheapest first, with the household discount applied where it fits.

Source: CSG Actuarial filing records, January 2026 to August 2026. An effective date can fall after the report month. 0 rows are carriers outside our quote table (closed blocks, group business, or products we do not quote), so they are not paired with a rate above.
A filing lands on the block, not on one person. A Michigan policyholder with any carrier on this list sees the number at renewal, at 66 or at 79. Switching outside the six-month open enrollment window means health questions unless a guaranteed-issue right applies, and Michigan has no birthday rule. So weigh a carrier's filing habit before buying, not after the letter arrives. The 2026 rate-increase page lists every state we track.
Household Discount: 6 of 28 Michigan Carriers File One
6 of the 28 Michigan carriers file a household discount, from 11.1% to 20%. Every table on this page shows the individual rate with no discount. HealthSpring National Health (Cigna)'s 20% takes its Wayne County Plan G at 65 from $207.39 to about $165.91. Who qualifies differs by carrier: a spouse, or another adult in the home, usually both on the same carrier. For a couple it changes the ranking. I ask on every Michigan call.
Apply Early and Lock In Your Starting Rate
An application can go in up to six months before Part B starts, and the starting rate is the row for the age when coverage begins. In Wayne County the 65 row is $113.48 at the cheapest carrier and $193.91 at the median. At 70 the same two rows read $128.39 and $217.94. The 65 row is the one age step a buyer picks. The rest arrive on birthdays.
Michigan had 382,269 Medigap covered lives at December 2023, statewide by plan letter (NAIC Medicare Supplement Experience Exhibit via AHIP May 2025 report): 159,198 on Plan G, 51,429 on Plan N and 98,080 on Plan F. The counts are not per carrier or per county. Plan F is closed to anyone new to Medicare on or after January 1, 2020, so there is no Plan F table here.
Methodology and Limits
- Source: CSG Actuarial rate filings, pulled September 10, 2026. No rate on this page was typed by hand; every figure renders from the data file.
- Profile: female, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount applied. A man, a tobacco user, or a couple gets different numbers.
- Counties are quoted through the ZIP with the largest land overlap. The Wayne County tables use ZIP 48111.
- "Spread" is the highest filed rate minus the lowest in the same row. "Step" is the same row's rate minus the rate five years younger.
- Carrier counts move. A carrier can enter, leave, or close a block between pulls, and a rate class above the one shown can exist at the same carrier.
- Michigan carriers price by rating area (44 of them), so one county's table is not a quote for another. Data was pulled September 10, 2026; filings effective after that date are not in it.
- Plan G does not cover the $283 Part B deductible, and neither does Plan N.
