By Anthony Orner, Independent Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · Florida filed-rate data pulled September 9, 2026, CSG Actuarial · Hillsborough County (ZIP 33547)

A 65-year-old in Hillsborough County pays $200.58 to $293.55 a month for Plan G across 24 Florida carriers (CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 9, 2026). That is $92.97 a month between the cheapest and dearest filing for one policy, about $22,313 over 20 years before any increase. Plan N in the same county starts at $148.43. Drive to Orlando and the cheapest Plan G drops to $200.58; drive to Miami and it climbs to $260.57.

Carriers pay the broker; the price you pay is the same either way. We quote all 24 Florida carriers in the file, not a shortlist.

Read a Florida age table as a set of new-buyer prices. All 24 carriers here price on issue age, which Florida requires. The age-70 row is the price for a woman who buys at 70, not the future price for the woman who buys at 65 today. Her premium moves only when the carrier files an increase on the whole block. The cheapest new-buyer rate climbs from $200.58 at 65 to $262.64 at 80, a $62.06 gap between two different customers.

The top of the table is Aetna (Continental Life) at 65 ($293.55) and Washington National at 80 ($446.41). The county column on the right is the statewide floor for each age; Alachua County starts $0.00 under Hillsborough at 65.

80$196.66 (Medico Insurance Company)$348.57 (Washington National)$151.9123Baker, $196.66

The cheapest Hillsborough Plan N at 65 is $148.43 from GPM Health and Life, $52.15 under the cheapest Plan G. For that, Plan N adds copays of up to $20 at some office visits and up to $50 at an emergency room visit that does not end in admission. It also leaves Part B excess charges uncovered; Plan G pays them. Neither plan pays the Part B deductible, $283 in 2026.

One Plan N row needs a caution. USAA Life files $680.34 for Plan N at 65 in ZIP 33547, against its own $269.62 at 70. Treat that row as filed but unverified, and get a live quote before you count on it. It also drives the age-65 spread in the table above. The other 22 carriers sit between $148.43 and $229.00.

Plan F Still Covers 51% of Florida's Medigap Market

NAIC counted 927,710 Florida Medigap covered lives at December 2023, statewide by plan letter (NAIC Medicare Supplement Experience Exhibit via AHIP May 2025 report). 473,057 of them were on Plan F, 51% of the market. Plan G had 221,938; Plan N had 95,598. Plan F is sold only to people who were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020. The Florida F block gets no new 65-year-olds. Its filings track G: F and G moved by the same percentage in 0 of the 0 2026 rows that list both.

A Plan F holder who looks at Plan G outside the six-month open enrollment window answers health questions, unless a guaranteed-issue right applies. Plan G does not pay the Part B deductible ($283); Plan F does. That deductible, set against the premium gap, is the whole arithmetic.

Methodology

  • Source: CSG Actuarial rate filings, pulled September 9, 2026. Every number is a filed rate, not a marketing quote.
  • Profile: female, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount applied. Ages 65, 70, 75 and 80.
  • Each of Florida's 67 counties was quoted through the ZIP with the largest land overlap; Hillsborough County is ZIP 33547. The county table shows 18 of them.
  • Spread is the highest filed rate minus the lowest for one plan letter, one age, one county. The county-low spread is the gap between the cheapest and the priciest county floor.
  • Carrier counts move as blocks open and close; 24 carriers quoted Plan G at 65 on September 9, 2026.
  • Florida rates vary by rating area (36 areas), so one county's table is not your quote.
  • Plan F is not sold to anyone new to Medicare after January 1, 2020, so there is no Plan F table here.
  • Rate changes come from the CSG Actuarial filing records for January 2026 through September 2026. A row is a filing on the carrier's block, not one person's renewal, and the effective date can be later than the report month.
  • Enrollment counts are statewide by plan letter, December 2023, from the NAIC Medicare Supplement Experience Exhibit via AHIP May 2025 report.
