What Medicare Costs in Florida in 2026: Part B Plus Plan G

By Anthony Orner, Independent Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · Florida filed-rate data pulled September 9, 2026, CSG Actuarial · Hillsborough County (ZIP 33547)

A 65-year-old in Hillsborough County pays $200.58 to $293.55 a month for Plan G across 24 Florida carriers (CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 9, 2026). Add the $202.90 Part B premium and the monthly Medicare bill is $403.48 to $496.45. Same Plan G, same claims paid. The $92.97 between the two carriers is $1,116 a year.

Two Florida Medicare Bills, Cheapest Plan G Against Dearest

Both bills below are for the same woman in Hillsborough, 65, non-tobacco, buying Plan G in 2026. Only the carrier changes. At the top of the table the supplement costs more than Part B itself.

Bill one: the cheapest filed Plan G

Part B premium, paid to Medicare$202.90
Plan G, GPM Health and Life$200.58
Per month$403.48
Per year$4,842

Bill two: the most expensive filed Plan G

Part B premium, paid to Medicare$202.90
Plan G, Aetna (Continental Life)$293.55
Per month$496.45
Per year$5,957

Over 20 years, before a single rate filing, bill two costs $22,313 more than bill one. A Part D drug plan sits on top of both and depends on the drug list, so it is not added here.

Two deductibles never show up in either bill. The $283 Part B deductible for 2026 comes out of the policyholder's pocket once a year; Plan G does not cover it, and neither does Plan N. The $1,736 Part A hospital deductible is paid by Plan G.

The Plan G Line at 65, 70 and 75 in Hillsborough County

Each row is the price for a buyer of that age, not the path one buyer follows. Every one of the 24 carriers prices Florida on issue age, so a 65-year-old who buys GPM Health and Life at $200.58 keeps the age-65 band for as long as she holds the policy. Her bill moves only when the carrier files an increase on the block. The median Plan G in Hillsborough is $246.06 at 65, $267.71 at 70 and $300.34 at 75.

Buying at 70 instead of 65 costs $21.75 more at the bottom of the table (GPM Health and Life at $222.33) and $26.49 more at the top (Aetna (Continental Life) at $320.04). At 75 the bottom is $236.97 and the top is $356.87. GPM Health and Life holds the floor at all three ages.

Where You Live in Florida Moves the Floor by $59.99

What Plan N Gives Back in Florida for Its Copays

The cheapest Plan N at 65 in Hillsborough is $148.43 from GPM Health and Life, $52.15 under the cheapest Plan G. That is $626 a year. In return the policyholder pays up to $20 at some office visits and up to $50 at an emergency room visit that does not end in admission, and Part B excess charges are hers. Plan G pays those excess charges. Neither plan pays the $283 Part B deductible.

The median Plan N in Hillsborough is $185.50 at 65. The file shows USAA Life at $680.34 at 65 and $269.62 at 70. I treat the 65 row as unverified and read the next-highest instead, Physicians Life at $229.00. I read the whole column on the call, not the top and bottom.

Only 4 of 24 Florida Carriers Discount a Couple

The Florida household discount is thin. 4 carriers file one, worth 2.5% to 3%, and 20 file none. The cheapest discounted Plan G in Hillsborough is $217.36, Humana Insurance Company at 3% off its $224.08 single rate. Next come Medico Insurance Company at $220.94 and AARP / UnitedHealthcare at $238.80.

GPM Health and Life, Washington National, HealthSpring National Health (Cigna), State Farm file no household discount in Florida, so a couple's cheapest carrier can differ from a single applicant's. Every Florida couple gets quoted both ways. The discount is 3% at best. In Hillsborough the discount changes the winner: Humana Insurance Company with it, GPM Health and Life without.

Issue-Age Rating: What Florida Requires and What It Means for the Bill

All 24 carriers in this Florida table price on issue age, because Florida requires issue-age rating for Medigap. An issue-age premium is set by the age at purchase and rises only when the carrier files an increase on the block. Attained-age pricing, common elsewhere, adds a step for each birthday on top of the filings. Community-rated pricing charges every age the same and moves only with filings. Florida buyers get issue age.

Issue age is not a frozen price. HealthSpring National Health (Cigna) filed +10.3% effective May 1, 2026, and its $217.87 Hillsborough rate already includes it. What issue age does buy is a lower starting band. The gap between buying at 65 and buying at 75 at the bottom of the Hillsborough table is $36.39 a month, $437 a year, for as long as the policy lasts. That is why I ask every Tampa caller for the month Part B starts, not the month she turns 65.

A row is the carrier's filing on its Florida block, not one person's renewal. The last column shows the Hillsborough rate only when the filing's effective date matches the rate's effective date in the September 9, 2026 pull; otherwise the two are not paired.

20 of the 24 carriers in the Hillsborough table carry a 2026 effective date, the newest September 1, 2026. A Florida rate-increase letter is a common reason a caller reaches me. Read me the carrier and the new premium. I tell you where it now ranks among 24 filed rates and whether the health questions are worth answering. The full list by state is on the 2026 Medigap rate-increase page.

How Big the Florida Medigap Market Is

Florida had 927,710 Medigap policies in force in December 2023 (NAIC Medicare Supplement Experience Exhibit via AHIP May 2025 report; statewide by plan letter, not by carrier or county). 473,057 of those policies are Plan F, 51% of the state. Plan G is second at 221,938 (24%), and Plan N is third at 95,598.

Plan F is only for people eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020, so its Florida block only shrinks and ages. That is one reason this page carries no Plan F rate table. The file's Plan F rows start at age 72, and nobody first eligible for Medicare in 2026 can buy one. A Plan F policyholder holding a rate letter can still call. The move to Plan G is a common one, and it means health questions outside a guaranteed-issue right.

Against the 4 other states published in September 2026, Florida's $200.58 starting point in Hillsborough is the highest. Virginia's floor in Fairfax County is $109.75, $90.83 less for the same Plan G. The standard Part B premium is the same $202.90 in all 5, so the whole difference is the supplement.
