By Anthony Orner, Independent Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · Virginia filed-rate data pulled September 10, 2026, CSG Actuarial · Fairfax County (ZIP 22079)

A 65-year-old in Fairfax County pays $312.65 to $494.98 a month for Part B plus Plan G in 2026 (CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 10, 2026). That is the $202.90 Part B premium plus filed Plan G rates of $109.75 to $292.08 across 21 Virginia carriers. Every one of those 21 policies pays the same claims. The $182.33 gap is price alone. Over a year it comes to $2,188. Over 20 years, before a single rate increase, it is $43,759.

Drive to Albemarle County and the same Bankers Fidelity Assurance policy files at $94.61, the lowest age-65 Plan G in any of the 21 states in this dataset. Fairfax County's $109.75 ranks 1 of 21 among the flagship counties we track. Virginia prices by rating area, 31 of them across 133 counties and cities, so the address sets the bill before the carrier does.

Carriers pay the broker; the price you pay is the same either way.

Source: CSG Actuarial MedSupp filing records, December 2025 to September 2026. An effective date can fall after the report month. A filing is the carrier's change on its Virginia block, not one person's renewal.

A starting rate is half the decision. The filing history is the other half. At the 19 attained-age carriers, a block filing lands on top of the birthday step. That is why the age-65 line and the age-75 line belong side by side. See the full state-by-state list at 2026 Medigap rate increases.

Attained Age Sets 19 of 21 Virginia Prices

19 of the 21 Fairfax County carriers price on attained age. The premium steps up with each birthday, and the block filing lands on top. Everence Association is the one issue-age filing, $199.07 at 65 and set by the age at purchase, so only block filings move it later. AARP / UnitedHealthcare is the one community-rated filing, $173.37 at 65 in its standard class, with a dearer class in the same filing at $527.00. The highest filed Plan G in Virginia is $292.08, from GPM Health and Life.

15 of the 21 carriers carry a 2026 effective date on their Fairfax County rate; the newest, Mutual of Omaha, is September 1, 2026. Virginia had 429,467 Medigap policies in force as of December 2023, by the NAIC count. The count is statewide by plan letter, not by carrier or county. Plan G held 197,935, 46%. Plan F held 174,879. Plan F is closed to anyone new to Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. This page builds no Plan F table. Plan N held 30,401.
