Wyoming Medicare Costs in 2026: Part B Plus a Thin Plan G Board
By Anthony Orner, Independent Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · Wyoming filed rates pulled September 14, 2026, CSG Actuarial · Laramie County (ZIP 82001)
Medicare with a Plan G costs a 65-year-old in Wyoming $340.66 to $492.21 a month: Part B at $202.90, plus a filed Plan G of $137.76 from MedMutual Protect or as much as $289.31 from Humana Insurance Company (CSG Actuarial filings pulled September 14, 2026). 18 carriers file the letter here, fewer than all but 3 of the 28 state files we hold.
Two things set Wyoming apart. 7 of the 13 filings in CSG's Wyoming records this cycle are 15% or more, a share only 22 states in our file exceed. And the floor carrier has no AM Best rating, with one filed change on record here, +15.0%. Cheap and thin go together in this state.
Carriers pay the broker. The filed rate is your rate either way.
7 of 13 Wyoming Filings at 15% or More
Aflac (Tier One Insurance) leads at +20.0% effective June 1, 2026. 7 of the 18 carriers on the board took a 15%-plus filing dated 2026. LifeShield National, second at the floor, has filed +9.0% (June 2024) then +16.0% (June 2025) then +15.0% (June 2026). On a board this thin there are few places to move to, so the filing column matters more than in a 30-carrier state.

3 Rating Areas, One Floor
Wyoming carriers file 3 rating areas over 23 counties; the largest covers 10, Albany County among them. The floor does not move with them: MedMutual Protect files $137.76 in every key county below, so the Cheyenne quote and the Jackson quote start from the same number. What changes between areas is the middle of the board, so the median column is the one to read.

Rank My Wyoming Rate — 855-559-1700Plan N at $95.37, and Where Wyomingites Actually Are
The cheapest Plan N is MedMutual Protect at $95.37, $42.39 below its own Plan G and $509 a year; with Part B the bill is $298.27. 18 carriers file the letter, $95.37 to $260.00. The trade is up to $20 at some office visits, up to $50 at an ER that sends you home, and Part B excess charges, which Wyoming allows a non-participating doctor to bill.
Wyoming has already moved to Plan G: 28,800 policies on G, 21,788 on the closed Plan F and 5,409 on N at the December 2023 NAIC count, 58,604 in all, the smallest Medigap market in our file. 4 carriers file a household discount, 5% to 12.1%, fewer than all but 3 states we track. The largest is Humana Insurance Company at 12.1%, $173.53 down to $152.53. Even after discounts, HealthSpring National Health (HCSC) at $151.97 does not reach the $137.76 floor.
Methodology
- Every premium is a carrier filing from the licensed CSG Actuarial API, pulled September 14, 2026 and rendered from the Wyoming data file at build time. No figure is typed.
- Profile: woman, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount, at the age shown; the lower of two filed rate classes ranks. Discounted lines are computed from the filed percentage.
- Wyoming was quoted one ZIP per county; counties whose carriers all file identical rates for every plan and age were merged into rating areas, 3 in all.
- Direct-to-consumer and guaranteed-issue classes, bundled Plan G variants and rows above four times the state median are excluded. Carrier counts are those returning a filed quote on the pull date.
- A “15% or more” share divides such filings by all Plan G filings in CSG's Wyoming records; cross-state ranks use the same rule on the 28 state files we hold.
- Enrollment is the NAIC statewide count by plan letter as of December 2023. The Part B premium and deductibles are 2026 CMS figures from one source file; Plan G does not pay the Part B deductible.
