A 65-year-old in Davidson County pays $117.95 to $358.58 a month for Plan G across 29 Tennessee carriers (CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 10, 2026). All 29 policies pay the same claims. Guarantee Trust Life charges 3.0 times what SilverScript (Aetna) does for the same letter.
Leave Nashville and the floor stays put. The cheapest county and the dearest county both file $117.95, from SilverScript (Aetna). The money sits inside one county, not between two. Top to bottom in Davidson County is $240.63 a month. In Tennessee the carrier moves the price; the address does not.

What Plan G and Plan N Cost in Davidson County at 65
Filed rates for ZIP 37221, female, non-tobacco, no household discount. The median column is the midpoint of the filed rates in that row, not a market average.
| Plan | Cheapest filed rate | Median | Highest filed rate | Carriers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plan GMost Popular | $117.95 (SilverScript (Aetna)) | $173.00 | $358.58 (Guarantee Trust Life) | 29 |
| Plan N | $86.30 (TRH Health (Tennessee Farm Bureau)) | $119.52 | $272.00 (United American) | 28 |
Plan G leaves you the $283 Part B deductible and nothing else. Plan N leaves that plus copays of up to $20 at the office and up to $50 at the emergency room. It does not cover Part B excess charges. Neither plan pays the Part B deductible.
TRH Health (Tennessee Farm Bureau) is Tennessee Farm Bureau's plan. Its $86.30 Plan N is the cheapest in Davidson County, and buying it takes a Farm Bureau membership. Without one, SilverScript (Aetna) is next at $88.38. On Plan G, TRH files $149.64, $31.69 above the Davidson County low. Cheapest Plan G to cheapest Plan N here is $31.65 a month, about $380 a year.
One Plan G Floor Across All 95 Counties
Tennessee has 95 counties in 32 rating areas, so on paper the price can change at a county line. In the filings it does not. Every one of the 95 counties starts at $117.95 on Plan G at 65. The table gives the cheapest filed Plan G in the cheapest county and in the priciest county, age by age. They match at all four ages. Same September 10, 2026 pull.
| Age | Lowest county floor | Highest county floor | County gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 65 | $117.95 (SilverScript (Aetna), Anderson County) | $117.95 (SilverScript (Aetna), Wilson County) | $0.00 |
| 70 | $125.03 (SilverScript (Aetna), Anderson County) | $125.03 (SilverScript (Aetna), Wilson County) | $0.00 |
| 75 | $147.02 (SilverScript (Aetna), Anderson County) | $147.02 (SilverScript (Aetna), Wilson County) | $0.00 |
| 80 | $170.69 (Physicians Mutual, Anderson County) | $170.69 (Physicians Mutual, Wilson County) | $0.00 |
The 20-year number belongs to the carrier gap, not the county gap. SilverScript (Aetna) and Guarantee Trust Life sit $240.63 apart in Davidson County. Twenty years of that is about $57,751, before a single increase. The county gap has nothing to multiply. 4 of the other 20 states in this dataset match it; none is narrower.
Three Things That Decide a Tennessee Medigap Price
Rate Type: 27 of 29 Attained Age
27 of the 29 Davidson County carriers price on attained age. The premium steps up at each birthday and again with each block filing. SilverScript (Aetna) files $117.95 at 65, $125.03 at 70, $147.02 at 75, $173.18 at 80. The other 2 rows are community rated: AARP / UnitedHealthcare (NAIC 79413) at $149.73 and AARP / UnitedHealthcare (NAIC 84549) at $178.56. Those move only when the block files.
Rating Area: 32 Areas, One Floor
A carrier can file a different rate in each of the 32 areas. The floor does not move. Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Nashville all start at $117.95. The top of the table does move: Guarantee Trust Life files $358.58 in Davidson County and $339.51 in Dickson County. Your ZIP still goes on the application, so I quote it, but it is not where the money is.
Carrier: 3.0 Times the Price
In Davidson County, Guarantee Trust Life files $358.58 and SilverScript (Aetna) files $117.95 for the identical Plan G. That is $240.63 a month, about $57,751 over 20 years before a single increase. Then comes the filing habit. AARP / UnitedHealthcare filed +40.0% on Plan G effective June 1, 2026. A low rate and a quiet block are two different questions, and I ask both.

A filing is the carrier's increase on a block of policies, not one person's renewal, and the effective date can trail the report month. 25 of the 29 carriers in the Davidson County table carry a 2026 effective date; the newest is September 1, 2026.

Compare Your Tennessee Rate — 855-559-1700The Lettered Plans, and Who Holds Them in Tennessee
Federal law standardizes each plan letter, so a Plan G from SilverScript (Aetna) pays what a Plan G from Guarantee Trust Life pays. NAIC counted 308,365 Tennessee Medigap policyholders in December 2023 (via AHIP's May 2025 report): Plan G 142,900, Plan F 125,018, Plan N 20,123. Plan G holds about 7 times as many Tennesseans as Plan N. These are statewide counts by plan letter, not by carrier or county.
| Plan | What it leaves you to pay | Tennessee policyholders (Dec 2023) |
|---|---|---|
| Plan GMost Popular | The $283 Part B deductible, and nothing else | 142,900 |
| Plan N | The Part B deductible, copays of up to $20 at the office and up to $50 at the ER, and Part B excess charges | 20,123 |
| Plan F | Nothing of Medicare's standard cost-sharing; closed to anyone eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020 | 125,018 |
| Plan A | The Part A and Part B deductibles, skilled-nursing coinsurance, and excess charges | — |
Plan F is closed to anyone who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. CSG's Tennessee Plan F rows start at 72, so there is no Plan F rate table here.

Methodology
- Source: CSG Actuarial rate filings, pulled September 10, 2026. Every rate on this page is read from that file at build time; none is typed.
- Profile: female, non-tobacco, individual policy, no household discount applied. A man, a smoker, or a couple gets different numbers.
- Each county was quoted through one sample ZIP for its rating area, 37221 for Davidson County. 8 of the 16 counties we quoted share their sample ZIP with another county. Read a county name here as its rating area, not as your address. 95 counties, 32 rating areas.
- Rate class: where a carrier files more than one, the tables show the cheapest. 7 of the 29 Davidson County Plan G rows have a dearer class behind them; AARP / UnitedHealthcare tops out at $606.76. A quote in one of those classes lands above these numbers.
- County gap: the cheapest filed Plan G in the priciest county minus the same in the cheapest county, at one age. Here the two are the same number, so there is no county gap at 65.
- Carrier counts move. 29 carriers quoted Plan G in Davidson County and 29 quoted it somewhere in the state; blocks open and close between pulls. Counts are filing entities, not brand names: those 29 rows carry 27 names, and AARP / UnitedHealthcare and Humana Insurance Company each file twice.
- Tennessee carriers file by rating area. Davidson County is one sample, not your quote, even with a gap this small.
- Plan F is not sold to anyone who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. CSG's Tennessee Plan F rows begin at 72, so the enrollment count is the only Plan F figure on this page.
- Enrollment: NAIC Medicare Supplement Experience Exhibit, December 2023, via AHIP's May 2025 report. Statewide by plan letter.
- Rate changes: CSG rate-change records, January 2026 to September 2026. A row is one carrier's filing on one block, not one person's renewal.
