What Medicare Costs in Tennessee in 2026: Part B Plus Plan G
By Anthony Orner, Independent Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · Tennessee filed-rate data pulled September 10, 2026, CSG Actuarial · Davidson County (ZIP 37221)
A 65-year-old in Davidson County pays $320.85 to $561.48 a month for Part B plus Plan G in 2026. That is the $202.90 Part B premium on top of a filed Plan G rate of $117.95 to $358.58, across 29 Tennessee carriers (CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 10, 2026). All 29 policies pay identical claims. The $240.63 a month between the cheapest and the dearest is the whole decision. Wilson County carries the highest county floor in the file, and only just. The gap is $240.63 a month, $2,888 a year, and about $57,751 over 20 years before a single rate filing. Both policies pay the same claims once the $283 Part B deductible is met. Neither Plan G nor Plan N covers that deductible; it is yours to pay once a year.

Source: CSG Actuarial rate filings, pulled September 10, 2026. Profile: female, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount, Davidson County (ZIP 37221). Each carrier's cheapest rate class is shown; a dearer class can exist at the same carrier. The carrier count moves between ages because a carrier that files at one age may not file at another, and rows that fail a plausibility check are left out of the build.
Hold one carrier still and the birthday step is easy to see. SilverScript (Aetna) files $117.95 at 65, $125.03 at 70, $147.02 at 75 and $173.18 at 80 in Davidson County. That is $55.23 more a month across 15 years, or 47%, before the carrier files anything on the block. The bottom row of the table runs $117.95, $125.03, $147.02 and $170.69 at the same four ages. Those four are not one policy aging: the bottom row changes hands, SilverScript (Aetna) at 65 and Physicians Mutual at 80, so it is four separate filings.
AARP / UnitedHealthcare files the 2 community-rated rows in this county. A community-rated block charges one premium at any age. It moves when the carrier files on the block, not on your birthday. Both of these blocks are quoted across several rate classes, so the table shows the cheapest class at each age: $149.73 at 65 and $239.28 at 80. The dearest class on that block is $509.06. Ask the carrier how its rate classes work, then decide.
One Plan G Price Almost Everywhere in Tennessee
Tennessee has 95 counties in 32 rating areas, so a carrier may file a different number by area. The cheapest Plan G at 65 is $117.95 from SilverScript (Aetna) in Anderson County, and the median county's low is the same $117.95. Of the 16 largest counties in the file, 16 show that exact figure. Wilson County is the outlier at $117.95 (SilverScript (Aetna)), which makes the county-to-county spread $0.00 a month at 65. By 80 it is $0.00, between Anderson County and Wilson County.

| Hamilton County (Chattanooga) | $117.95SilverScript (Aetna) | $173.00 | $339.51 | 29 |
Same profile as the age table.
The floor barely moves. The top of the table does: $358.58 in Davidson County against $339.51 in Shelby County, $19.07 apart. Tennessee has 32 rating areas, and one county's table still sits close to the next. It is not your quote. Carrier counts and the top of the table shift by county, and age, sex and tobacco use change every row.
Tennessee Plan N: Lower Premium, Two Copays to Watch
The cheapest Plan N in Davidson County at 65 is $86.30 from TRH Health (Tennessee Farm Bureau), and it takes a Farm Bureau membership to buy. Without the membership the low is $88.38 from SilverScript (Aetna). Against the $117.95 Plan G low, that is $29.57 a month, about $355 a year. The county has 28 carriers filing Plan N.
What the $355 gives up: copays of up to $20 at some office visits and up to $50 at an emergency room visit that doesn't end in admission. Plan N also leaves Part B excess charges to you; Plan G covers them. Neither plan covers the $283 Part B deductible.

Same profile and the same Davidson County ZIP used for the Plan G table above.
Tennesseans buy G far more often. Of 308,365 Medigap policies in force statewide at December 2023, 142,900 were Plan G (46%) and 20,123 were Plan N. That is about 7.1 times as many. The counts come from the NAIC Medicare Supplement Experience Exhibit via AHIP May 2025 report, statewide by plan letter, never by carrier or county. Plan F still carries 125,018, all of them eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020. Nobody new to Medicare can buy it, so this page has no Plan F table.

Every state's 2026 filings are on one page: 2026 Medigap rate increases by state and carrier.
Methodology
- Every premium here is a carrier's filed rate, pulled from CSG Actuarial on September 10, 2026. Rate changes come from the CSG Actuarial filing records, January 2026 to September 2026. Nothing on this page was keyed in by hand.
- Profile: female, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount applied unless the sentence says so.
- Every one of the 95 counties was quoted through a single sample ZIP for its rating area. That ZIP can sit in the county next door and still return the same filed rates. Davidson County was quoted at ZIP 37221.
- Spread means the monthly dollar distance between the cheapest and most expensive filing for one plan letter at one age. County-low spread means the distance between the cheapest county's low and the priciest county's low.
- Carrier count means how many carriers returned a filed quote for this profile: 29 in Davidson County at 65 and 29 across Tennessee. A carrier that files at one age can skip another, so the count moves down the table.
- Tennessee rates vary by rating area (32 of them), so one county's table is not your quote, even where the floor matches.
- Plan F rows appear only at the older ages, and Plan F is closed to anyone who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020, so this page has no Plan F table.
- Three figures come from CMS rather than CSG: the 2026 Part B premium, the Part A deductible and the Part B deductible. All three are imported from one file. Enrollment counts are statewide by plan letter, dated December 2023, and are not per carrier or county.
