Same profile. Plan N adds copays. Up to $20 at some office visits. Up to $50 at an ER visit that does not end in admission. It leaves Part B excess charges uncovered. Plan G covers those.

SilverScript (Aetna) files both plans in Davidson County. Plan G is $117.95, Plan N is $88.38. That is $29.57 a month, about $355 a year, for the copays. Do not read the two floor rows as a pair. SilverScript (Aetna) holds the Plan G floor. TRH Health (Tennessee Farm Bureau) holds the Plan N floor, and it sells only to Farm Bureau members. The cheapest Plan N statewide runs $86.30 at 65 and $135.20 at 80. Neither plan pays the 2026 Part B deductible of $283.

Who Holds a Medigap Policy in Tennessee

308,365 Tennesseans held a Medicare Supplement policy as of December 2023. That count is the NAIC Medicare Supplement Experience Exhibit, via the AHIP May 2025 report. Plan G covered 142,900 of them, 46%. Plan F covered 125,018 and Plan N 20,123. That is about 7 Plan G policies for every Plan N. These are statewide counts by plan letter, not by carrier or county. Plan F closed to anyone new to Medicare on January 1, 2020. This page has no Plan F table. The filings still carry Plan F rates for people eligible before then.

Methodology

  • Source: CSG Actuarial rate filings, pulled September 10, 2026. Each number is a filed rate, not a carrier's marketing quote.
  • Profile: female, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount applied. Male, tobacco and discounted rates differ from these.
  • Each county was quoted through a sample ZIP for its rating area. That ZIP is not always inside the county line. Davidson County uses ZIP 37221. Two counties in one rating area can share a quoted ZIP; 4 of the ZIPs above do.
  • Spread is the dollar distance between two filed rates at one age and one plan letter. Cheapest to dearest carrier statewide, or cheapest county floor to highest county floor.
  • Carrier counts move. 29 carriers quoted Plan G at 65 in Davidson County on September 10, 2026, and 29 in Anderson County. A block can open or close between pulls.
  • Tennessee rates vary by rating area, 32 of them. One county's table is a map of the market, not your quote.
  • Plan F rows exist only at 72 and older. Plan F closed to anyone new to Medicare on January 1, 2020. So there is no Plan F table here.
  • Rate-change rows are CSG Actuarial's filing records, January 2026 through September 2026. An effective date can fall after the report month.
