Texas Medicare Broker: Free Help With Real Filed Rates
A Texas Medicare broker compares Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage plans from multiple carriers, at no cost to you, and shows you the actual filed rates for your age and ZIP code. Premiums are the same whether you enroll through a broker or directly with a carrier — the difference is that you see every option instead of one company's.
I'm Anthony Orner, an independent Medicare broker licensed in Texas and 34 other states (NPN 20586791). I work with Texas clients from Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso to the smallest towns by phone and video, and this site publishes the same filed-rate data I use on those calls. As of July 2026, easyKind Medicare holds a perfect record on Google: all 142 of our Google reviews are five stars.

These are filed rates for a 65-year-old non-smoking woman, verified against carrier rate filings as of 2026-07-12. The spread between the cheapest and most expensive carrier for identical benefits is why comparing before you enroll matters.
| Plan | Lowest filed rate | Highest filed rate | Carriers quoting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan G | $130/mo | $285/mo | 24 |
| Plan N | $99/mo | $243/mo | 23 |
Sample ZIP 77002 (Houston). Your exact rate depends on age, ZIP, tobacco status, and household discount eligibility.
Two quote questions that move real money in Texas
In the same rate pull, 4 of the 24 carriers quoting Plan G offered a household discount (11.1–20% off), and 31 of 32 carriers surcharge tobacco users (about 38% on average). Whether your broker asks about your household and tobacco status can change your quote more than the plan letter.
Named carriers, real Texas numbers
Most broker sites won't name carriers or prices. Here is what the carriers we've reviewed in depth actually charge a 65-year-old for Plan G in Texas, with each carrier's most recent Texas rate filing (as of 2026-07-15):
| Carrier | Plan G at 65 | Market rank | Latest TX filing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bankers Fidelity | $130/mo | #1 of 24 | +4.9% (2025-08-01) |
| Medico | $175/mo | #7 of 24 | +24.28% (2026-02-01) |
| WoodmenLife | $198/mo | #14 of 24 | +41.6% (2026-02-15) |
| Humana | $218/mo | #18 of 24 | +18.02% (2026-04-01) |
| Mutual of Omaha | $266/mo | #21 of 24 | +25% (2026-07-01) |

Independent broker vs. captive agent vs. calling the carrier
A captive agent represents one insurance company and can only show you that company's plans. Calling a carrier directly gets you the same single-company view, from a call center. An independent broker is contracted with many carriers and is required to be licensed in your state — I pull the filed rates for every carrier I represent and put them side by side.
In Texas, where the price spread between carriers for identical Plan G benefits exceeds $150 a month, the single-company view is expensive.
