Plan G vs Plan N in Georgia: 2 Carriers Where the Letter Is Almost Free

By Anthony Orner, Independent Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · Georgia filed rates pulled September 10, 2026, CSG Actuarial · Fulton County (ZIP 30213)

In Fulton County, Bankers Fidelity (Atlantic Capital Life) files the cheapest Plan G at $144.62 and the cheapest Plan N at $108.78, for a 65-year-old woman who does not use tobacco (CSG Actuarial, pulled September 10, 2026). That is $35.84 a month, $430 a year, about 21 office copays.

Georgia's oddity is at the other end of the board. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield prices its Plan N $8.00 above its Plan G; AARP / UnitedHealthcare prices its Plan N $2.00 under its Plan G. At those companies the letter is a free choice and Plan G is the one to take. The discount that makes Plan N worth considering exists only at carriers that price the letters $49.27 or more apart, which is the Georgia median. And every one of the 20 carriers here prices on issue age, so whichever gap you buy at 65 is the one you keep.

The carrier pays the broker. Your filed premium is the same either way.

Sorted by the Gap: Where Plan N Is Worth Nothing and Where It Is Worth $86.99

Issue Age: The Gap You Buy at 65 Is the Gap You Keep

Georgia carriers all price on issue age. An issue-age policy is priced by the age you are when it starts and never steps up on a birthday; only block filings move it. So the table below is not how your premium will change, it is what the same letter costs a new buyer at each age. Waiting from 65 to 75 to buy Plan N raises the floor from $108.78 to $120.94; for Plan G, $144.62 to $166.17.

What Plan N Hands Back in Georgia

Up to $20 at some office visits. Up to $50 at an ER visit that does not become an admission. And Part B excess charges, which Georgia permits: a doctor who does not accept assignment may bill up to 15% above the approved amount, and Plan N leaves it with you. Plan G pays all three. Neither letter pays the $283 Part B deductible; both pay the $1,736 Part A deductible.

Georgians hold 35,634 Plan N policies against 182,212 on Plan G and 134,481 on the closed Plan F at the December 2023 NAIC count; Plan N's 9.5% share ranks 12 of 28 in our file, and the $49.27 median gap ranks 13 of 28. 15 carriers in the table carry a 2026 Plan G filing, the largest Medico Insurance Company at +24.3% effective February 1, 2026. In an issue-age state a filing is the only thing that ever moves your premium, so the last column of the pair table is the one to read twice. The state list is on 2026 Medigap rate increases.
