ZIP 85354, CSG Actuarial filings pulled September 10, 2026; each carrier's lowest filed rate class, woman, 65, non-tobacco, no household discount. Rank is the carrier's place among the 29 Plan G and 29 Plan N filings in Maricopa County. The filing column shows a 2026 filing only when both letters were filed the same day.
United American is the outlier. Its Plan G is the 7th-cheapest in Maricopa County at $186.00; its Plan N is the dearest of all 29 at $278.00. Across our state files it prices Plan N above its own Plan G in 12 of 28. Arizona's $92.00 is the widest of those gaps. Buy its Plan G if you like the company; its Plan N buys less for more.
At the cheap end the saving is steadier: Bankers Fidelity (Atlantic Capital Life) $39.56, LifeShield National $40.92 and WMI Mut Ins Co $52.00. The floor carrier's Plan N comes in 27% under its Plan G. Higher up the board the company matters more than the letter. Of the 29 Plan N filings, 16 cost at least as much as the cheapest Plan G, $146.51.

Three things. Up to $20 at some office visits. Up to $50 at an ER visit that doesn't end in admission. And Part B excess charges, which Arizona doesn't ban. A doctor who doesn't accept assignment may bill up to 15% over the Medicare-approved amount. Plan G pays all three. Both letters pay the $1,736 Part A deductible; neither pays the $283 Part B deductible.
The floor saving, $475 a year, equals about 23 office copays or 9 ER copays. Arizona held 27,330 Plan N policies at the December 2023 NAIC count. That is 7.8% of 352,138 Medigap policies, or 16 for every 100 on Plan G. The share ranks 16th of 28 states in our file. The floor saving itself ranks 10th largest of 28.
Choosing a Letter You Can Keep
Inside the six-month Medigap open enrollment window, every Arizona carrier must issue either letter at its filed rate. Outside it, moving from Plan N to Plan G can mean health questions unless a guaranteed-issue right applies. Arizona has no birthday rule. So the letter chosen at 65 is the one to plan around. I have new clients apply up to six months before Part B starts. That locks today's filed rate on whichever letter they pick, $106.95 or $146.51 at the Maricopa County floor.
Methodology
- Every premium is a filed rate read at build time from the Arizona file of our licensed CSG Actuarial pull dated September 10, 2026. None is typed.
- Profile: woman, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount, ZIP 85354 in Maricopa County, at the buying age shown; each carrier's lowest filed rate class.
- A carrier's two letters are paired by NAIC code, so a saving is always one company's Plan G minus its own Plan N.
- Filings compare each letter's latest 2026 rate change when both took effect the same day. A split is 3 points or more.
- Direct-to-consumer and guaranteed-issue classes, bundled Plan G variants and rows above four times the state median are excluded.
- Cross-state ranks use the 28 state files that carry both letters at 65. Enrollment is NAIC's statewide count by plan letter, December 2023.
- Copay caps and deductibles are 2026 federal figures from one source file.
- Birthday rule: Arizona has none, per the NAIC's state-by-state Medigap birthday-rule chart (NAIC, May 2026).
