A 65-year-old in Greenville County pays $114.30 to $249.23 a month for Plan G across 25 South Carolina carriers (CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 11, 2026). Bankers Fidelity Assurance holds that $114.30 floor, and it holds the same kind of floor — just $10.29 higher — in every other key county we track. The coverage behind every number on this page is identical by federal law.

South Carolina slices its Medigap map into 42 rating areas across 46 counties, almost one area per county, and still the geography barely moves the price: $10.29separates our cheapest and priciest tracked county. The carrier does the moving instead — GPM Health and Life at $249.23 charges 2.2 times what Bankers Fidelity Assurance does for the same Plan G, $32,383 apart over 20 years before a single rate increase lands. Two pages sort out what to do with that: the full monthly bill with Part B added, and which carriers' 2026 filings moved the needle most.

Three Things That Decide a South Carolina Medigap Price

Rate Type: No Carrier Locks In at Purchase

South Carolina files zero issue-age Plan G: 23 of 25 carriers price on attained age, so the rate steps up with every birthday and again with every block filing. Bankers Fidelity Assurance's Greenville County Plan G goes $114.30 at 65, $121.51 at 70, $144.47 at 75 and $174.35 at 80, a $60.05 climb by 80. GPM Health and Life climbs $130.29 over the same stretch, so the priciest line ages faster in dollars, not just in starting point. The only exceptions, 2 of 25, are both AARP/UnitedHealthcare lines — community rated, one price at any age.

Rating Area: 42 Zones, One Floor Carrier

46 counties split into 42 rating areas, nearly a one-for-one map, yet the cheapest Plan G at 65 moves only $10.29 among the 16 we track: $114.30 in Abbeville County to $124.59 in Williamsburg County. Bankers Fidelity Assurance holds every one of those floors, just split across 2 price lines.

Household Discount: Size Tracks Nothing

6 of 25 carriers file a household discount, 5% to 20%. HealthSpring National Health (HCSC) files the richest cut, 20%, from a mid-table $183.44 line. Humana Insurance Company files the thinnest, 5%, while sitting near the top of the board at $238.69. A bigger discount does not mean a cheaper carrier here.

Which South Carolina Counties Sit on Which Price Line

16 South Carolina counties and cities were quoted as key markets on September 11, 2026. Their cheapest Plan G at 65 lands on just 2 price lines, and Bankers Fidelity Assurance holds every single one of them. The county low moves $10.29 across all 16; the carrier at the bottom never changes.

South Carolina Medigap Rate Filings in the 2026 Reports

The CSG Actuarial filing records from December 2025 through September 2026 carry 23 South Carolina rows with a Plan G line, and every single one is an increase — none a cut. 16 of them, 70%, ran 15% or more, and 23 of the 25 carriers we quote in Greenville County carry a filing effective sometime in 2026. The largest is AARP / UnitedHealthcare at +20.4%, effective June 1, 2026. A filing is the carrier's change on its South Carolina block, not one person's renewal letter, and its effective date can sit before or after the month of the report that lists it.

The Lettered Plans, and What Each One Leaves With You

Every South Carolina carrier sells the same lettered plans off the same federal benefit chart. Plan G leaves the $283 Part B deductible with you and nothing else. Plan N adds the copays and skips Part B excess charges. Plan F is closed to anyone eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. South Carolina still carried 114,254 Plan F lives in December 2023, against 118,873 on Plan G and 23,382 on Plan N (NAIC data via AHIP's May 2025 report, statewide by plan letter, not by carrier or county).
