South Carolina Medicare Supplement Pricing by Age (2026)
By Anthony Orner, Independent Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · South Carolina filed-rate data pulled September 11, 2026, CSG Actuarial · Greenville County (ZIP 29690)
Published October 17, 2026 · Filed rates pulled September 11, 2026 · Source: CSG Actuarial · Profile: female, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount
In South Carolina the cheapest Plan G climbs from $114.30 at 65 to $174.35 at 80, and the middle of the 25-carrier table from $153.80 to $257.59 (Greenville County; CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 11, 2026). No South Carolina carrier prices on issue age. At the 23 attained-age carriers the premium follows the age table, so the 80 column previews where a policy bought at 65 is headed, before any filing.
That makes the shape of each carrier's curve worth as much as its starting price. Medico Insurance Company files $139.14 at 65 and Washington National files $147.18, $8.04 apart. At 80 their tables read $177.13 and $305.29, $128.16 apart.
The carrier pays my commission; your premium is the filed rate either way.
Greenville County Plan G at 65, 70, 75 and 80
Plan G picks up Medicare's leftover share of approved care; the $283 Part B deductible stays with you. Each row is quoted at ZIP 29690 for the age on the application.

Source: CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 11, 2026. Female, non-tobacco, individual, no household discount; each carrier's lowest filed class. The middle filing is the median of the 25.
Bankers Fidelity Assurance holds the floor at all four ages. Its steps are $7.21 from 65 to 70, $22.96 to 75 and $29.88 to 80, each one taller than the last. That is about 53% over fifteen years on today's table. The middle filing climbs further in dollars, $153.80 to $257.59, a $103.79 rise.
None of that counts filings. Of the 25 carriers, 17 raised Plan G in each of 2024, 2025 and 2026, and 23 carry a rate that took effect this year. On an attained-age policy the two add up: the birthday step, then the block filing. The filing history by carrier is on the South Carolina rate index.

Greenville County, ZIP 29690, lowest filed class at each age, pulled September 11, 2026. A rank of 1 is the cheapest of the 25.
Washington National ages fastest: $147.18 at 65 to $305.29 at 80, about +107%. Blue Cross Blue Shield is next at about +94%. Medico Insurance Company ages slowest, about +27% ($139.14 to $177.13). Washington National drops from 6th on the board at 65 to 21st at 80. Physicians Mutual moves the other way, 17th to 9th.
Past 65, the useful question is whether a carrier is still a good price at your age. In South Carolina that depends on its curve as much as its sticker. Two carriers $8.04 apart at 65 can be $128.16 apart at 80. These are today's tables, and a filing can bend any of them.
Turning 65 in South Carolina?
Apply as early as six months before your Part B start date. That locks today's filed rate before coverage begins and keeps you inside the window with no health questions. It does not freeze the age-65 price; attained-age premiums still step up with birthdays.

Plan N costs less and hands back copays: up to $20 at some office visits, up to $50 at an ER visit that does not end in admission, and any Part B excess charge.

Same ZIP and profile as the Plan G table. Carriers filing Plan N: 24 at 65, 24 at 80.
The Plan N floor climbs about 55% from 65 to 80, against about 53% for Plan G. In dollars the saving grows: the cheapest N sits $30.91 under the cheapest G at 65 and $45.27 under it at 80. Whether that saving survives the copays is a carrier-by-carrier question, worked through on the South Carolina Plan G vs Plan N page.
No Issue-Age Carrier Files Plan G in South Carolina
Each filing in the CSG file carries a rating-method tag. Attained-age pricing follows your current age, so the premium rises as you do, plus filings. Issue-age pricing fixes the age band at purchase, and only filings move it. Community rating charges one base price at every age.
South Carolina's 25 carriers split 23 attained age, two community rated and no issue age. Next door, every one of the 20 carriers in our Georgia file prices on issue age, so its age columns are entry prices and nothing more. Here they are closer to a forecast.
The community-rated label needs a footnote here. The cheapest class still climbs with entry age: AARP / UnitedHealthcare (NAIC 79413) reads $164.98 at 65 and $263.53 at 80; AARP / UnitedHealthcare (NAIC 84549) reads $171.46 at 65 and $257.59 at 80. Each one's dearest class does hold a single price from 65 to 80. So a new buyer does not pay one price at every age. Ask which class an application lands in before treating the premium as flat.
South Carolina has no birthday rule; the NAIC's state Medigap rules chart (as of May 11, 2026) shows none. Outside the six-month open enrollment window, a move to a cheaper curve means health questions unless a guaranteed-issue right applies. So the carrier picked at 65 is often the one kept at 80.
What Waiting Costs When the Price Follows Your Age
In an issue-age state, buying at 70 locks a dearer band for life. South Carolina works differently. At an attained-age carrier, a woman who bought at 65 and a woman buying at 70 are billed from the same age-70 row, $121.51 at the Greenville County floor today, before any class difference.
What waiting costs is the guarantee. Inside the open enrollment window, no carrier can turn you down or price your health. At 70 the application asks health questions, and a decline sends you down the list. That is why I ask a South Carolina caller for the Part B start date before anything else.
Counties: Small Gaps That Widen With Age
The gap between the cheapest and dearest county floor is $10.29 at 65 and $15.69 at 80, Abbeville County against McCormick County at the older age. By 75 the key counties below split into three floors: $144.47 from Bankers Fidelity Assurance in Greenville, Richland, Lexington, York, Anderson, Sumter and Pickens; $149.88 from Medico Insurance Company in Charleston, Beaufort, Berkeley, Dorchester and Florence; $157.48 from Bankers Fidelity Assurance in Aiken.

Methodology
- Every premium is a CSG Actuarial filed rate from the South Carolina file pulled September 11, 2026, rendered at build time. None is typed by hand.
- Profile: female, non-tobacco, applying alone, no household discount, at 65, 70, 75 and 80. Other profiles price differently.
- Greenville County (ZIP 29690) is the flagship table. South Carolina has 42 rating areas across 46 counties, so one county is not your quote.
- Curves compare the same carrier's lowest filed class at 65 and 80 on today's tables. They leave out future filings, which an attained-age policy feels on top of the age steps.
- Ranks place a carrier among the 25 Greenville County Plan G filings at that age, 1 being the cheapest.
- Direct-to-consumer, guaranteed-issue and bundled Plan G classes are excluded, along with any row above four times the statewide median.
- Plan F is closed to anyone new to Medicare since January 1, 2020, so it has no table here. Neither Plan G nor Plan N pays the $283 Part B deductible.
