Indiana Medicare Supplement Pricing by Age: 65 to 80

By Anthony Orner, Independent Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker · Filed rates from CSG Actuarial, pulled September 11, 2026 · Marion County (ZIP 46239)

Indiana Medicare Supplement pricing for a 65-year-old woman in Marion County runs $118.22 to $333.67 a month for Plan G, across 27 carriers (CSG Actuarial filings, pulled September 11, 2026). At 80 the same table runs $174.98 to $508.12. 25 of the 27 carriers price on attained age. On those policies the age columns are the schedule a 65-year-old's premium climbs, before any rate filing.

The climb is not the same at every carrier. Washington National and Medico Insurance Company start $2.14 apart at 65 and finish $129.73 apart at 80. Choose on the 65 price alone and you can end up on the steeper curve.

Marion County, lowest filed class, same profile at every age. Lines without a tag are attained age. Every carrier returned a rate at all four ages.

Among the attained-age lines, Washington National climbs most: $159.83 at 65 to $330.47 at 80, up 106.8%, the only one that more than doubles, sliding from 8th to 22nd on the board. Medico Insurance Company climbs least, 27.3%, from $157.69 to $200.74, rising from 6th to 2nd on the board. Of the attained-age lines, Insurance Company of North America (Chubb) gains the most places, 16th at 65 to 9th at 80. Everence Association moves further, 14th to 5th, but as the issue-age line its later rows are prices for new buyers, not its 65-year-old buyers' future.

The cleanest example is a pair that starts level. Washington National files $159.83 at 65 and Medico Insurance Company files $157.69. By 80 they are $330.47 and $200.74, $129.73 a month apart. Neither number includes a filing. On a call I read both curves, not just the 65 price.

The first curve does not have to be the last. Since January 1, 2026, Indiana's birthday rule lets a Medigap policyholder 65 or older move to the same lettered plan at a new carrier once a year, from one month before to one month after their birthday, without denial or medical underwriting. A steep Plan G can become a flatter Plan G that way; a switch from one letter to another is not covered.

Turning 65 in Indiana?

You can apply up to six months before Part B starts. That locks today's filed rate before coverage begins, with every carrier's open-enrollment guarantee. In Marion County the floor at 65 is $118.22; on an attained-age line the birthday steps still follow.

Plan N From 65 to 80

Plan N costs less and leaves some copays with you: up to $20 at some office visits, up to $50 for an ER visit that does not end in admission, and any Part B excess charges.

Same county and profile as the Plan G table. 26 carriers quote Plan N at 65 and 26 at 80.

The Plan N floor changes hands: Members Health at 65 and 70, then Bankers Fidelity (Atlantic Capital Life) at 75 and 80. Against the Plan G floor it saves $33.22 a month at 65 and $39.44 at 80. Plan N climbs most at HealthSpring Insurance (HCSC), up 121.3% from 65 to 80, and least at Medico Insurance Company, 27.3%. The Indiana Plan G vs Plan N page pairs each carrier's two letters.

Attained Age at 25 of 27 Carriers, and the Exceptions

CSG tags each filing with a rating method. This Indiana pull reads 25 attained age, 1 issue age and 1 community rated.

The issue-age line changes the long view. Bought at 65, Everence Association's Plan G stays in its $168.35 band, while the attained-age lines keep climbing. On today's schedules all 25 attained-age lines pass $168.35 by 80. Even the floor carrier, Bankers Fidelity (Atlantic Capital Life), files $174.98 at 80. Filings land on both kinds of policy, so neither will hold today's number; Everence Association filed +17.73% effective April 1, 2026.

The community-rated tag needs one caution. AARP / UnitedHealthcare's lowest class for a new buyer still rises from $160.41 at 65 to $256.26 at 80 in this file. The file prices each age as a new purchase. It does not show how an existing AARP / UnitedHealthcare premium moves after purchase, which is the question to settle before comparing it with an attained-age line.

Buying at 65 or Buying Later

On an attained-age policy, waiting does not buy a lower price. A 75-year-old who buys today pays the 75 row, $147.57 at the Marion County floor. A woman who bought the same line at 65 pays that row at 75 too, on today's schedule. What waiting changes is acceptance: the six-month open enrollment window opens once you are 65 and on Part B, and after it a carrier can ask a first-time buyer health questions.

Once you hold a policy and are 65 or older, Indiana's birthday rule opens a window every year, from one month before to one month after your birthday. Inside it you can move to the same lettered plan at a new carrier with no health questions, and the new policy starts on the first of the month after you sign. A change of letter, such as Plan F to Plan G, is not covered, so a carrier can still underwrite that. The issue-age line is the exception that rewards buying early: Everence Association files $168.35 at 65 and $200.12 for a buyer at 75, and the band you enter at is the one you keep.

The County Gap at 65, 70 and 75

Indiana carriers file 85 rating areas for 92 counties, and the gap between counties grows with age. The cheapest county floor sits $17.51 under the dearest at 65 and $25.93 under it at 80.

Cheapest filed Plan G per county, one sample ZIP each, pulled September 11, 2026. Porter County shared a sample ZIP with a county above and is not listed twice.

Lake County has the dearest floor of these counties at every age shown. It pays $17.51 a month more than the 13 counties on the $109.46 line at 65 and $21.86 more at 75, from the same carrier both times.

Filings Stack on Top of the Birthday Steps

An attained-age premium has two engines: the age schedule and the block filing. CSG Actuarial's Indiana records (December 2025 to September 2026) hold 18 Plan G filings from carriers on this board, and 15 of them are 15% or more. The largest is HealthSpring Insurance (HCSC) at +42.74%, effective April 1, 2026; its Marion County schedule also climbs 93.3% from 65 to 80. Every filing, with each carrier's current rank, is on the Indiana rate index.
